No War of Warcraft ?

It's interesting how simple many of these logos are, yet how recognizable they remain. Take the Wii logo, for instance. A capital W and two lower case i's in a light grey color and rounded typography. Very simple. Yet everyone in America can recognize this fairly new design immediately and know what it's for. Strong branding or strong design?

I really like the first logo, Little Big Planet. Each word has its own look, but they all somehow flow together to create a single image. Great inspiration for logo design, except that a designer would need to be careful with a design this intricate for a corporate use. It seems like a similarly detailed logo would not work on a small canvas, such as on business cards. It works great for a video game, though!
